Professor Kim has majored in Heat and Production Engineering in the field of Mechanical Engineering, and is doing researches on laser material processing, optimal application production equipment, micro-heat system/-heat sensor.
He did his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University and received his PhD from UC Berkeley, U.S.
After he has taught at the UT Austin in US, he is now a professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Postech.
He is also active as an editorial director of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers and Korean Society of Laser Processing, and as an executive vice-president of The Korean Society of Thermophysical Properties.
